Poems

A Writer’s Day

Day by Day I write I type

I cut, I paste

I cry, I gripe.

My fingers fly across the page

I grapple for words alive with rage

I make the old worlds new again

I rip

I tear

I paste, I dare

To create a world new and alive

For my characters to live and thrive.

I cut, I paste

And gripe once more

In hopes you will someday explore

The world I create in my heart of hearts

To share with the world

My work of art.

Blank Page

The empty page glares stark white

The pen gracefully glides through the night.

The first chapter never tells what will be

You have to keep reading in order to see.

We think we know how the story will end

But the end is always a new beginning again.

This is just a small

sample of

my many poems.

A Mother’s Love

One day you grow real tall

You’ll be brave

You won’t be small.

Until that day

I’ll pray for you

To keep you safe

Is all I can do.

You’ll grow

You’ll sprout

Without a doubt.

You’ll sing

And jump

And run around.

You’ll fish

You’ll swim

You’ll beat the odds

You’ll challenge life

You’ll test the Gods

You’ll be stubborn

That much is true

Your mother’s son

She’ll see you through.

A Prayer For The Heart

Now I lay me down to sleep

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

Praying for a time gone past.

Wishing I could make it last.

Never one to break the rules,

I promise to never be the fool.

Though I did not know it then,

I thought you’d always be a friend.

I knew you’d always come back for me,

My biggest fear was that you see.

Why you ask, is that my fear,

Because I knew I loved you dear.

Sometimes the world is oh so cruel,

And there is nothing we can do.

I carry a torch close to me heart,

It always burns with each passing part.

I close my eyes and dream some more,

I watch myself walk out the door.

I have no choice, it has to be,

I need to let my heart be free.
